AsBEA, through Built by Brazil, its Internationalization Program maintained by AsBEA-SP in partnership with Apex-Brasil, carried out the International BIM Program with the objective of promoting the exchange between professionals specialized in BIM in Brazil and Portugal.
The AsBEA-Built by Brazil International BIM Program took place in São Paulo between March 27 and 29, 2024, during the BIM Forum Conference, the largest BIM – Building Information Modeling – event in Latin America. In partnership with BIM Forum Brazil, the Program focused on the lecture: Use of BIM in project companies in Portugal. The guest speaker was the Portuguese BIM specialist Bruno de Carvalho Matos, an engineer at the company Engexpor, headquartered in Lisbon and with offices in Brazil, Angola and Mozambique.
Fernanda Pedro, director of Diário Imobiliário, one of the main media outlets for the real estate and construction market in Portugal, was invited to cover the International BIM Program.
The Brazilian participants included representatives from some of the leading architecture and urban planning firms that use BIM in the development and execution of their projects: Addor & Associados ? Miriam Addor, Königsberger Vannucchi Arquitetos Associados ? Fabrizio Rastelli and Carla Estrella, D&P Arquitetura ? Danilo Batista and Archscape ? Gustavo Garrido.
In addition to the seminar Use of BIM in project companies in Portugal, which was moderated and commented on by Gustavo Garrido, Miriam Addor and Carla Estrella, representing Build by Brazil, the program included a panel on BIM and internationalization, as well as technical visits to the construction sites of two buildings designed in BIM by offices associated with Built by Brazil.
International BIM Program AsBEA ? Built by Brazil
The first day of the program was dedicated to participation in the opening ceremony and main lectures of the BIM Forum Conference, as well as immersion in the topic of BIM application in design offices in Brazil and Portugal, with a technical visit to the Built by Brazil member, Königsberger Vannucchi.
The coordinator of partnerships at Apex-Brasil, Paulo Silva, also participated in the technical visit, which began with a meeting to present and discuss the BIM application at Königsberger Vannuchi, followed by the experience of Engexpor, in Portugal. On the occasion, the technological ecosystem of Königsberger Vannucchi was detailed, with its own server, which allows, among other things, the remote execution of BIM projects from any equipment, anywhere in the world. This ecosystem allows the firm, in addition to international operations, to make economic gains with equipment and IT services.
From the perspective of the application of BIM in projects in Portugal, Bruno Matos highlighted the relatively advanced stage of design companies in relation to companies in Brazil, but pointed out that there are also, in a similar way, many challenges in using it in the execution of projects. Regarding public policies, he highlighted Brazil’s progress in terms of the coordination of various federal agencies for the dissemination of BIM nationwide, through the BIM BR strategy, unlike what happens in Portugal, which still lacks this type of public policy in the project sector.
The second day of the AsBEA Built by Brazil International BIM Program was marked by the AsBEA ? Built by Brazil panel at the BIM Forum Brazil, presented by Bruno Matos and the technical visit to the HY Pinheiros building, designed in BIM Königsberger Vannucchi.
With the distinguished participation of the firm’s founding partner and former president of AsBEA, Gianfranco Vannucchi, the technical visit to the HY Pinheiros building aimed to demonstrate the practical results of designing a project in BIM, as well as its execution in the final stage of construction. The visit also allowed the international guests to learn about the state of the art in corporate real estate products in Brazil, as well as one of the main axes of urban development in São Paulo.
In the main activity of the program, international guest Bruno Matos gave a lecture: Use of BIM in Project Firms in Portugal to the audience of the BIM Forum Brazil 2024. The content of the presentation focused on the panorama of BIM application in Portugal, from the point of view of private and public contracts and in the relationship with suppliers in the execution stages of works. The presentation was quite clear in highlighting the advanced level of the use of BIM in Portugal, which is already a reality in most projects, as well as the challenges, mainly in the execution stages. The interventions by Gustavo Garrido, Miriam Addor and Carla Estrela, representing Built by Brazil, allowed the clarification of doubts and the drawing of parallels in relation to the actual use of BIM in projects in Brazil.
To conclude the main day of the program, a dinner was held at the Vista restaurant to celebrate the representatives of AsBEA and Built by Brazil, and the international guests Bruno Matos and Fernanda Pedro.
The last day was marked by the seminar: BIM and the Internationalization of Project Firms, with presentations by Bruno de Matos, Miriam Addor and Carla Estrela. Held at Somaúma, and opened by its director Pedro Ichimaru, the seminar, open to AsBEA members and the public, explored the experience of the companies Engexpor, Addor e Associados and Königsberguer Vannucchi in the use of BIM in international projects.
After lunch at the iconic Bar da Dona Onça, located in the Copan building, the last technical visit of the AsBEA International BIM Program was made to the Pátio Rebouças building, with coordination and BIM compatibility by Addor & Associados and architectural design by aflalo / gasperini arquitetos. As in the previous visit, it was possible to demonstrate in practice the design aspects carried out in BIM and its advantages at the time of execution of the work.
The last stage of the Program was the visit to the SESC Paulista building, an iconic requalification project carried out by the associated firm Königsberguer Vannucchi, ending at the observation deck overlooking Paulista Avenue where the international guests were able to enjoy one of the most privileged views of the city.
AsBEA Built by Brazil International BIM Programl was a success in all aspects: from the contribution of qualified content to the audience of the BIM Forum Brazil, to the exchange of experience between design companies in Brazil and Portugal and mainly in the dissemination of the initiative in Portugal.
