In the flat area of Vila Assunção, in Porto Alegre, near the Guaíba River, Casa Carajá is named after the street where it stands. The region has a unique climate, with Minuano winds, cool summers, and humid winters. A former vacation neighborhood, it keeps a calm rhythm, with tree-lined streets and local shops. On a 27 x 42 m plot with 34 native trees preserved at the residents’ request—a young couple with three children and pets—the project emerged from a fluid layout among the trees, creating organic forms. A jacaranda was kept in a circular patio that lights the powder room. The social area features large openings and connects with the outdoors. For the interiors, tiles were inspired by Carajá tribe basketry. The cantilevered veranda over the koi pond pool is finished with white pebbles
