The sculptural fig tree and the organic naturality of its branches contrast with the rigid concrete block on the façade. It houses the bedrooms on the upper floor and shields the home from the southern Minuano wind. On the ground floor, a longitudinal volume in corten steel and glass extends the social area toward the water. The solarium connects to the bedrooms, with views of Porto Alegre’s horizon. Half a level below, the annex was designed as a leisure and contemplation area facing the main house. The black pool reflects the building, like a dark lake under the wooden deck bridge. Inside, concrete appears in curved walls that extend into the house, enclosing the pool bathroom and playroom. Casa da Figueira won the AsBEA Award in 2018.
